FAQs

Essentially, plantation shutters are shutters with louvres or slats, generally wooden and generally for indoor use. They were initially crafted to control indoor temperatures and increase privacy though in recent times they are ticking an aesthetically pleasing box too. Take a look at our shutter styles for more information.

There are a number of things to consider when it comes to louvre width:

● Height of your window
● Style of your window
● The level of light control you’d like to achieve
● How much privacy you require

Generally speaking, the wider the louvre the more light you’ll get but the least privacy. For upstairs rooms which tend to be more privacy-led, we’d advise a smaller louvre for example.

(Typically 1-2 weeks before the shutters arrive in the UK).

Deciding on whether to choose any of these options is a big decision because it will not only impact the look and style of your home, but it’s a long-term investment so it’s important to spend the time doing your research.

You won’t be surprised that our suggestion will be to opt for blinds and shutters, but here are some of the reasons why:

● Shutters are the only option that can provide light and privacy control.
● Blinds can be an inexpensive option and provide more control over curtains.
● Wooden shutters offer the best fit, being made to measure to fit your window frame.
● Shutters are the most efficient when it comes to insulation because of the snug fit within your window frame.

We believe that along with being child-friendly, easy to maintain and the most stylish that shutters will always come out on top.

If you’re thinking about investing in new windows then we would definitely recommend doing this before researching shutter blinds. Wooden shutters, plantation shutters and all of our shutter ranges are measured to fit the exact size of your window space so it’s important to factor this in if you’re shopping for new windows too.

The most efficient way to understand the potential cost of your investment is to arrange a complimentary and no obligation home measure appointment where we can give you an accurate quotation based on the blinds and shutters you might be interested in.

Our experienced team will visit your home to take their own measurements to ensure they fit snugly.

There are several factors that impact the cost of plantation shutters including:

● The size or dimensions of the window
● The material selection
● The style selection

Like anything in our homes, shutters will often collect dust and require some minimal cleaning, we have a few ways in which you can clean your shutter blinds:

● A dry microfiber cleaning cloth or duster
● Avoid all purpose cleaners as it can stain the material
● Avoid using a lot of water as it can warp the material, a slightly damp cloth is best with luke warm water

For your peace of mind we fit as standard either a tensioning device or a safety mechanism. This reduces the risk of a child or vulnerable person becoming entangled in the cord or chain. Where possible loops are replaced with individual cords. Where necessary, child safety devices are supplied with our blinds as standard and at no additional cost. All blinds are supplied with the required warning tag attached to them.

We are based in Surrey and cover towns in the whole county, as well as London.

On exception and depending on work volume, we shall happily travel further afield.

We offer a 5 year product warranty, as well as a life long fitting/maintenance warranty. We email you both warranties on the day of the install.

This can vary due to the amount of shutters you choose to have installed. But a typical bay window would usually take around 3-4 hours. A front of house, (typically 2 bay windows and a side window) may take 5-7 hours.

They are never rushed and overloaded with jobs, so you can be rest assured that not only will the install go very smoothly with a stunning result; but we will always ensure to clean the area after install. Clean dust sheets are used in every affected room when installing too.

Lastly we always complete a full quality check at the end of the install.
